According to McKinsey and Company, between 2008 and 2012, loyalty programs grew as follows:

  • grew 10 percent per year expanding to more than 23 memberships per household.
  • total US members grew:
    • 2010 – 2.1B
    • 2012 – 2.6B
    • 2014 – 3.3B

However, organizations that have highly visible loyalty programs have had 10 percent lower EBITDA than companies that don’t since 2002.
