Alexandra residents are urged not to expect freebies as a reward for taking part in organised health-related activities.
This was said at a 5km fun walk, organised by Joburg City Council’s Region E’s Department of Health, which was held at the Altrec Sports Complex. The fun walk saw different age groups walk around the township as part of a health awareness campaign.
She said, “People should desist from relying on supplements to keep healthy. They are just temporary boosters that kill you in the long term. Rather, opt for regular exercises, proactive engagement in any health-related events around your neighbourhood and do not expect to be rewarded to get healthy.”
This she said this in reference to residents allegedly engaging in these events when told there could be food on offer or other forms of reward. “Instead, residents should participate in physical activities of their clubs,” she stressed.
